After completing a Pattern making, manufacture and Grading course at The Femina School of Design, Tracey launched her Clothing label, ‘Variance Clothing’; unique designs with a lot of attention to detail and prints. Many of her designs were featured in local magazines like The You; Elle and Cosmopolitan.

In 1995 Tracey began her career in the film industry as a Stylist on television commercials. For the past twenty years she has worked with many nationalities, on very diverse projects. She has also worked on a few, very creative Stills Campaigns and Music Videos.

In 2003 Tracey had the opportunity of working on her first Feature Film. Due to her training in pattern making and design, she became a Manufacturing Supervisor within the costume department. Subsequently, Tracey has been involved with every aspect of Costume for film; from Key Ager/Textile Artist; Wardrobe supervisor; Crowd supervisor/Designer to Costume Designer.

Tracey has worked on a wide variety of Film projects, set in various eras; from early humans; medieval times; 1800’s; 1920’s to current and post- apocalyptic. Tracey has risen to the challenges presented to her; from working with natural materials to clothe ‘Old Mother’ and inventing and designing accessories and costumes for various tribes in 10000 B.C.; to producing unconventional designs for the fantasy film; ‘Les Deux Mondes’. She has sprayed and aged costumes for Viking warriors; Neanderthals and Rugby players. Then there were the hordes of extras to transform into distinctive Biblical tribes and Israelites of different levels of society, in the series; ‘Of Kings and Prophets’. Tracey enjoyed the challenge of finding or making the right outfit, to change an ordinary extra into an extra ordinary character.

Tracey has worked with young, emerging actors like Emorey Cohen, Bel Powley, Tye Sheridan, Elle Fanning, Nicholas Holt and Kaya Scodelario as well as established actors like Daniel Craig, Dougray Scott, Michael Shannon, Stephen Moyer, John Lynch and many more.

Her love for textile art, embroidery and quilting; has often been incorporated in decorating garments for Film projects. She has a passion for vintage clothing; and loves to combine retro with contemporary clothing.

Tracey has a unique sense of style and colour and has a true understanding of how modern fashion has been influenced by the past.

Tracey works from Cape Town, South Africa, but has also worked in Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Qatar.
